Mohamed Salah could miss as many as six Premier League matches - including the trips to both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal - after Liverpool's fixtures for the 2025/26 campaign were confirmed.
The forward is set to captain Egypt at this winter’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The 2025 edition of the continental competition has been pushed back from this summer due to the inaugural edition of FIFA’s controversial expanded Club World Cup taking place in the United States in June and July.
But with the World Cup also taking place in the United States next summer, the Africa Cup of Nations has had to be pencilled in for December and January as opposed to its historical January and February mid-season slot.

The latest edition of the tournament will get underway on December 21 and run until January 18, ensuring it clashes with one of the busiest periods in the Premier League campaign in the process.
Previously, African players missed minimal top-flight matches with much of January made up of domestic cup action.
They will then face Angola in their final group game on December 29.

As a result, Salah looks set to miss Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham - currently scheduled for December 20 - as well as back-to-back home clashes with Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 27 and Leeds United on December 30.
Should Egypt progress to the knockout stages, Salah is also at risk of missing the Reds’ trip to title-rivals Arsenal.
The round-of-16 is scheduled to take place between January 3-6 with the quarter-finals following on January 9-10.
Both semi-finals will take place on January 14 ahead of the third place play-off on January 17, with the final then taking place in Rabat on January 18.
Consequently, progression to the round-of-16 would leave Liverpool without Salah for their first Premier League fixture of 2026, away at Fulham on January 3, and also leave him at high risk of missing the trip to Arsenal on January 7.
Meanwhile, if Egypt were to reach the quarter-finals, he would definitely be absent for the midweek trip to the Emirates.
Should Egypt reach the semi-finals, ensuring they will take place in either the third place play-off or final in the process, Salah would also sit a sixth Premier League game with Liverpool’s hosting Burnley on January 17.
The 33-year-old could also miss further Reds matches in Europe and domestic cup competition due to his AFCON commitments.
While Liverpool do not know their opponents yet, the FA Cup third round will take place the weekend of January 10-11.
Consequently, progression to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals would guarantee Salah is missing for such a tie.
Should the Reds reach the League Cup semi-finals, progression to the AFCON semi-finals would ensure the Egyptian is absent for the domestic cup semi-final first leg the w/c January 12.
However, depending on when clubs are obliged to release their players for international duty, Salah’s final Liverpool match before AFCON duty could come in the League Cup quarter-finals the w/c December 15.
Meanwhile, the Reds star is also at risk of missing one Champions League match.
Matchday seven is scheduled to take place on January 20-21.

As a result, if Egypt were to be involved in the Africa Cup of Nations third place play-off or final the weekend of January 17-18, Salah would have to make the swiftest of returns to Merseyside in order to be available for selection for Liverpool’s penultimate Champions League league phase match.
