The 2023/24 season has been something of a rollercoaster for Liverpool.

Their performances this term have been far better than the previous campaign, however, some fans have still been left underwhelmed.

At times, it has felt as if the Reds had the whole world at their hands with talks of a quadruple often being brought up.

Especially after they easily managed to overcome Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final and win the trophy.

This season will be the last that Jurgen Klopp is the manager of the Anfield club and many believed that the German would be granted a fairy tale final season.

Although Liverpool currently reside in third place on the top flight table, the players haven’t been up to the standards that they have shown in prior seasons.

Granted, the club had a strong start, however, towards the tail-end of the season, where the results mean more, it has felt as if they have lost their ‘spark.’

Players such as Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez have all been held accountable by fans in recent weeks in regard to their poor form.

So much so that, yesterday, Nunez seemingly removed all the photos of Liverpool from his Instagram account, sparking further speculation around his future.

Salah himself has been subject to criticism from fans with some even calling for the Reds to cash in on The Egyptian King this summer.

However, in Sunday’s tie against Tottenham, his form seemingly turned for the better.

He managed to provide a goal and assist which led to the Reds’ 4-2 dismantling of Spurs.

These goals weren’t just important to boost his statistics, however, as, he managed to create Premier League history by doing so.

What Premier League history did Mohamed Salah create?

As most people could tell you, Salah has without doubt been one of, if not the best player Liverpool have had in recent years.

He has consistently made an impact on the side and has performed to the best of his ability more often than not.

Indeed, there have been times like the last month or so where the Egypt international hasn’t been at his best, however, he is still an invaluable member of the squad.

Without Salah within the squad, there is no doubt that Liverpool would’ve been far worse off in recent years.

A shout could even be made for this season, as, despite his rough patch of form over the last month, he has still managed to create top flight history.

As per Squawka, the Egypt international was the first player in Premier League history to score 10+ goals and provide 10+ assists in three consecutive seasons.

Not only does this outline how much of an impact the 31-year-old has had on Liverpool but, it also shows that this season he has still managed to perform better than many other players.

Although recently times have been tough for Salah in front of goal, it seems ‘off-brand’ for the Reds to look into selling the winger this summer.

Especially when he is still currently chasing down a top three finish for the Premier League golden boot.

Mohamed Salah’s chase for a top three finish in the Premier League golden boot

Although the recent form of Mohamed Salah has been far from ideal, his form across the season has been fairly good.

The attacker is currently fifth in the Premier League’s top scorers table, just two outside of the top three.

It’s highly unlikely that the winger will find himself coming away with the golden boot once again, but, he can still try to break into the top three come the end of the campaign.

The Reds have two top flight games left against Aston Villa and Wolves.

The Villans themselves have had an incredible season and could even finish in the top four spots.

They currently find themselves fourth, seven points ahead of fifth placed Tottenham.

If Salah can score a goal or two against Unai Emery’s men, it would allow his quest for a top three finsih to become more achievable.

If he manages to get into the top three, it could set him up for a solid start next season where the Reds will likely be out for vengeance, especially with a new manager at the helm.
