Mohamed Salah has paid tribute to Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of his Liverpool exit at the end of the season and says it has been "a pleasure sharing a special friendship" with the defender.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, ended 12 months of speculation on Bank Holiday Monday as he announced that he would be ending his two-decade-long association with the Reds when his contract expires at the end of June.
The England international is now tipped to follow in the footsteps of Michael Owen and Steve McManaman and swap Anfield for Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old confirmed his decision to depart Anfield on Monday and said that it "was easily the hardest decision I've ever made in my life" during an emotional interview.
Alexander-Arnold's announcement was met with a mixed reaction from the Reds' fan-base - with supporters understandably upset about the departure of the West Derby local who has won every trophy available since making his debut in October 2016.

But despite that backlash, Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and even more of Alexander-Arnold's team-mates past and present have sent him messages of support ahead of the next chapter in his career.
And on Monday night, Salah became the latest to do so as he reflected on his eight years alongside Alexander-Arnold and wished him "the best" ahead of his expected move to the Spanish capital.
"It's been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you," posted Salah on his social media channels.

"I wish you the best and I am sure we will meet again."
Salah's switch to Liverpool from AS Roma eight years ago coincided with Alexander-Arnold's first full season as a first-team professional.
Since then, the pair have won the Champions League, Premier League twice, Super Cup, Club World Cup, League Cup and FA Cup as team-mates at Anfield.
Like Alexander-Arnold, Salah was set to depart Anfield at the end of the season as his contract with the club was due to expire on June 30.
But last month, the Egypt star signed a new two-year deal with the Reds - ensuring that he will remain at Anfield until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Liverpool, who won the Premier League with four games to spare last month, now face Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace before the end of the season.
