Mohamed Salah has launched an astonishing broadside at a Liverpool supporter account for "disrespecting" players who helped win the Premier League title.

A fan account on Tuesday evening posted a collage of former Reds duo Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez alongside new signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak with the caption: "Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history."

Both Diaz and Nunez played important roles as Liverpool romped to a record-equalling 20th championship last season during Arne Slot's first season in charge.

Diaz scored 17 goals in all competitions while Nunez made 30 Premier League appearances and scored a dramatic late brace to earn a key victory at Brentford in January.

And Salah responded to the image on Wednesday morning with the comment: "How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?"

Diaz moved to Bayern Munich for £65m in July and has been replaced as Liverpool's number seven by Wirtz, who cost £116m from Bayer Leverkusen.

Nunez, meanwhile, has switched to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in a deal that could earn the Reds £56.6m, with his number nine shirt now worn by club record signing Isak following the Sweden international's £125m arrival from Newcastle United on Monday evening.

Diaz also won two League Cups and an FA Cup during his three-and-a-half-year Liverpool spell and featured in a Champions League final.
