Mo Salah has challenged his Liverpool team-mates to fight for the Premier League title again next season, vowing that there will be 'no excuses' should they fall short.

Liverpool's top scorer Salah has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, with his 28 league goals and 18 assists driving the Reds to their 20th top-flight title, which was secured with a 5-1 victory over Tottenham at a raucous Anfield on Sunday.

Despite Liverpool's romp to success the vast majority of the campaign has been played out amid uncertainty over Salah's future, but the Egyptian signed a new two-year deal earlier this month and will return to spearhead the defence of the title next season.

Reflecting on the league success, Salah wrote on Instagram: "This is what we wanted to deliver to our fans more than anything.

No excuses.

"All teams win games but in the end there’s only one champion.

That’s what history remembers and this applies to next season as well."

Salah's vow comes one year on from his promise to Liverpool supporters that the players would "fight like hell" for success after a disappointing end to Jurgen Klopp's final campaign with the club.

Having won the Carabao Cup in February, the Reds looked well set for a triple trophy assault as they chased success in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, only to fall away in the season's closing months.

Writing back then, Salah said: "We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season.

Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell."

Salah wore a beaming smile on Sunday as he celebrated winning the Premier League title in front of fans, with the Reds denied the chance to celebrate with their supporters when they won the league in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“This is way better, 100 per cent," he said, before adding that he still missed some old team-mates.
