Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has jokingly 'complained' about the fact Alexander Isak is priced more 'affordably' than he is during the upcoming season's Fantasy Premier League game.

The Reds remain locked in a transfer saga with Newcastle United less than one week until the new term gets underway.

As well there being an appetite for transfers at this time of year, football fans also look forward to crafting their fantasy teams to compete either directly with friends or against the rest of the globe.



Salah has been a popular source of in-game points across his eight years on Merseyside, as he has scored 184 goals and assisted 87 more in the Premier League.

For the 2025/26 campaign, he starts with an online price of £14.5m, which is the highest of any professional in the game and leaves users with a big decision to make considering they start with a budget of £100m and must select a squad of 15 all-told.

To underline exactly why he is the most expensive player, the Egypt star achieved a combined 47 goals and assists to claim the golden boot and playmaker awards alongside Liverpool's title success last season.

[Erling] Haaland (£14m) should be the highest, Isak (£10.5m) should be the highest, so not a winger has to be the highest."

Salah's 'complaint' comes with coincidental timing - as the Reds remain interested in the latter.

Isak is all-but set to miss the start of the new season, Eddie Howe has confirmed, as the striker has been exiled from Newcastle's squad.

The ECHO understands Liverpool will not bid again for Isak until Newcastle indicate they are willing to sell, though it has been reported that key figures at St James' Park have now decided they will block any move from happening.

So, that hard-line stance appears to be what is preventing last season's second-placed Premier League goal-scorer from combining with Salah in Arne Slot's real-life team this season.
