It has been another excellent season at Liverpool, with one player in particular standing out above all.
Not only have the Reds enjoyed one of their best seasons in years, but Mohamed Salah has as well after setting the record for the joint-most goal contributions in a Premier League season with 47.
The Egyptian also shows no signs of slowing down and after penning a new two-year deal earlier this year, Liverpool fans can still enjoy watching him for years to come.
With Jeremie Frimpong arriving as Liverpool’s new right-back, Salah’s potential goal threat will only increase further, making the Reds’ right-hand side next year a frightening prospect.
However, despite winning the Premier League and so many individual achievements, the Ballon d’Or is one that might just escape him, with pundits from around the globe snubbing him for the award.

A hotly contested award each year, the Ballon d’Or might just be harder than ever to predict, with there being a few standout candidates.
Pundits all over the world have their differing beliefs and back home in England, Gary Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast that he thinks PSG’s Ousmane Dembele is now favourite to win it.
“We have to come to the inevitable question of the Ballon d’Or, it’s obviously hugely influenced generally by the team that wins the Champions League,” Lineker said.

“You could probably give it to quite a few of their players.
He had a couple of really good moments in the final despite not getting a goal.
“I think he will probably be favourite now,” he ended with.
As for ex Liverpool player Steve McManaman, in a recent TikTok video posted on the GOAL account, he believes one of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal or Raphinha will win the award, eventually settling on the Brazilian.
Brazil legend Romario also agreed when asked for his thoughts on ESPN, highlighting just how hard it was to overlook the 28-year-old this season.
“At this moment I would choose Raphinha,” Romario said.
“He’s scored so many goals and these have been important goals, not only for Barcelona but also when he goes to the Brazilian National team.”

As for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, he previously agreed with both when speaking on CBS, suggesting that the trophy might be heading in one man’s direction.
“Raphinha is ahead of Lamine Yamal because what he is doing in the Champions League,” Henry said.
“Raphinha has it all.”
What Salah has done this season is nothing short of sensational, so leaving him out of the conversation or writing him off would be unwise.

Although goals and assists are not enough on their own, breaking records and picking up a trophy should certainly help his case.
Being knocked out by PSG in the Champions League may not help his cause, particularly as Dembele went on to win it, but statistically it is hard to look past anyone else.
After coming relatively close to winning it in 2022, but not as close as teammate Virgil van Dijk who came second in the Ballon d’Or rankings in 2019, the Egyptian could be on course for his highest finish in the rankings, but may still feel hard done by if he doesn’t pick up the award.
