Villa secured the 22-year-old on a season-long loan with a conditional £35 million purchase clause.
Unai Emery’s side will make the move permanent next summer should Elliott feature in ten matches, while Liverpool inserted both buy-back and sell-on provisions.
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2019 and has made 147 first-team appearances, has struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot.
He leaves Anfield having won two Premier League titles, a FIFA Club World Cup, two League Cups, and an FA Cup.
Strangely enough, Elliott has been handed the No.
9 shirt at Aston Villa.
The iconic number has been worn by standout players, including recent holders Jhon Durán and Marcus Rashford, as well as club legends Peter Withe, Andy Gray, and Juan Pablo Angel.
And now, taking to Instagram, Mohamed Salah has penned a short but powerful goodbye to Harvey Elliott:
“You’ll be remembered for your loyalty and dedication every time you were called upon,” the Egyptian wrote.
“You leave as a champion, and I’ve got no doubt you’ll do big things at your new club.
They are lucky to have you.”
From a financial standpoint, the structure of the loan-to-buy deal allows Villa to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations while securing a player of Elliott’s calibre.
Should the obligation clause trigger next summer, the stated £35 million fee is lower than what Liverpool originally wanted.
It’s believed the Reds were looking for a fee in excess of £40m.
Meanwhile, Elliott, speaking on his move to Villa Park, said:
“First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for making this happen?
Playing for a massive club like Aston Villa is every kid’s dream.
“I’m very happy that it’s over the line now, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“Coming to Villa Park, you see how passionate the fans are, how well drilled the team is, it’s really hard to play against.
“Having the opportunity to be part of it, I couldn’t say no
