Mohamed Salah has spoken for the first time since the news about Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool this summer became official.

The world’s worst-kept secret was made public on Monday after Alexander-Arnold announced his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The England right back had ben at the club since he was six.

But on Monday he took to social media to announce that he was closing his chapter at Anfield this summer, bringing an end to his 20-year assosiciation with the club.

According to the Liverpool vice-captian, his decision to leave was hard, but necessary for him as he was keen on a new challenge and “to leave his comfort zone.”

While no official announcement has been made, it is expected that the 26-year-old is Real Madrid bound.

The Spanish giants have offered him a six-year contract, reportedly worth less than the amount Liverpool were willing to pay him if he had remained at the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s departure will certainly open up a huge gap in the squad.

The 26-year-old has been one of Liverpool’s best players in the club’s recent history.

The defender has provided 13 assists for the Egyptian, while Salah himself has returned the favour with six assists for Alexander-Arnold.

The pair share a special bond off the pitch and form part of the Liverpool leadership group.

Salah has taken to social media to react to the news of Alexander-Arnold leaving the club at the end of the season.

“It’s been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you?

I wish you the best, and I am sure we will meet again,” he wrote on Instagram.

Other Liverpool players and some of Alexander-Arnold’s former teammates at the club also reacted to the news.
