Mohamed Salah has credited Liverpool fans for 'putting pressure' on the decision makers who tabled him a new two-year contract, saying: "They played a big role in this".

And the two-time Premier League winner also believes he can continue operating at his current level until early 40s.

Salah, who has been the Reds top scorer every season since his arrival in 2017, ended months of speculation in April when he officially signed a deal that will take him up to 10 years at Anfield when his terms expire in 2027.

The Premier League's Golden Boot and Playmaker award winner saw his future become the topic of much debate across the campaign prior to extending his stay, and in an interview with ON Time Sports, the 29-goal top scorer explained how the Reds' fanbase helped with bringing the club to the table with the terms he was happy to agree to.



"Yes, it took a long time and you know the club's policy and stuff but in the end, we sealed a good deal for both ends and everyone was happy," Salah said.

"They (the Liverpool fans) are the ones who put the pressure on the administration.

I knew the fans wanted me to stay.

So they played a big role in this.

"I know what I want and I don't want to talk a lot.

But I always do what I want a long time ago.

"I did what I wanted to do but I always make sure that I am telling the truth.

I am always honest with people from the beginning."

On interest from Saudi Arabia prior to signing at Liverpool, Salah added: "I thought it was a good opportunity.

I have achieved a lot of things.

"I don't know what is going to happen but I am happy here in Liverpool and I am staying here for the next two years.
