Mohamed Salah set to beat Wayne Rooney in another Premier League record

Mohamed Salah is just three goal contributions away from overtaking Wayne Rooney for the most goal involvements for a single club in the competition’s history.

Rooney holds the current mark with 276 goals and assists for Manchester United, while Salah stands at 274 for Liverpool.

This chase comes on the back of Salah’s record-breaking 2024/25 campaign.

The 33-year-old not only led Liverpool to the league title but also matched the all-time record for most goal involvements in a single Premier League season.

Salah racked up a stunning 47 goals and assists, equaling the totals of Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole — who reached their numbers in 42-match seasons, compared to Salah’s 38.

Salah already owns the record for the most goal contributions in a 38-game season, but passing Rooney would add another jewel to his collection.

With Liverpool starting the 2025/26 season with five wins from five and Salah already on two goals and two assists, the record seems only a matter of time.
