Uncertainty remains over Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield, with his current contract due to run out in the summer.

Despite the disconcerting silence on talks over a new deal, Liverpool fans do have a reason for hope.

As it stands, Salah will walk away from Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the season.

This has naturally raised concerns amongst supporters, considering that the 32-year-old is Liverpool's top scorer in the Premier League era and has been instrumental in their push for the title this season.

Since Salah stated that "no progress" had been made on his contract renewal back in January, there's been scant word on new deals for him or teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who find themselves in similar positions.

Liverpool's decision-makers have long held an air of optimism about sealing a deal with Salah, aiming for a two-year extension.

It seems that both parties are keen for him to continue his stay on Merseyside, although financial terms are believed to be the bump in the road thus far in negotiations.

Nevertheless, an uplifting sign for Liverpool supporters is the response regarding interest from potential suitors, Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League and Paris Saint-Germain.

While clubs abroad have been free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with him since January, any transfer links with those clubs have been swiftly and firmly denied, as per the Mirror.

It's been reported that Liverpool's recent setbacks in the Champions League and Carabao Cup final won't influence Salah, Van Dijk, or Alexander-Arnold's future decisions.

It's also widely believed that Salah and Van Dijk are keen on continuing their journey at Anfield, while Alexander-Arnold's thoughts are less clear, with some suggesting he might be keen on a switch to Madrid.

Gary Lineker shared his insights back in February.

The Match of the Day host reckoned that if Salah was on the brink of leaving, there would be more buzz about him being linked with other clubs.

Discussing it on his The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker said: "I've got a feeling he will [sign a new contract]." His confidence was echoed by Alan Shearer, who added when Lineker mentioned the lack of noise around the situation: "It's just too quiet.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't."

Lineker also noted Salah's light-hearted nature about the situation: "Especially the way he jokes about things as well.
