Mohamed Salah has shared a message on social media after helping Liverpool extend their healthy advantage at the top of the Premier League table.

Salah played a key role in helping the Reds claim a 2-1 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon.

Salah provided the assist for Ryan Gravenberch, who opened the scoring at Anfield, with Hugo Ekitike also on the scoresheet.

The result moved Liverpool six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, which later became five points after Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The assist from Salah was his third in all competitions so far this season, and took his total goal contributions up to six in as many appearances this term.

A little over 24 hours later, Salah has posted two messages on social media as Liverpool prepare for their next domestic fixture in midweek.

In the first post, on his Instagram story, Salah posted a video showing Ibrahima Konate greeting him and some of his Liverpool teammates.

The second post showed Salah in the gym at the AXA Training Centre, which otherwise appeared to be completely empty.

The post from Salah comes after head coach Arne Slot all but confirmed that Liverpool's No.11 will not start against Southampton in the Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday night.

Slot stated that Salah will be one of five players who are not expected to feature in the third-round tie in midweek.

"It's the reason why teams like us and the ones in Europe need a squad like this, as you play so many games," Slot told reporters after the win over Everton.

"It's not an excuse, we accept it.
