Liverpool’s preparations for the new season are set to get underway very soon.

The Reds may be just off the back of a title winning campaign, but they will already be thinking about how they are going to retain it next season.

New signings are aplenty and Florian Wirtz is the marquee name set to arrive, with the German’s creative threat something that could help Liverpool go to the next level.

Star player Mohamed Salah is just one man who will be ecstatic to see him come through the door at Anfield, with his goalscoring numbers likely to improve despite already being the best in the league.

The fixtures for the 2025/26 season have also just been announced and the Reds’ first fixture might just be a game that the Egyptian is licking his lips at.

Last season, many would put this fixture down as an incredibly hard one to navigate given just how good Bournemouth were.

And, although they will still be a tough opponent to beat on the opening day of the season, Bournemouth have certainly weakened since the back end of last campaign, especially in defence.

Milos Kerkez will have joined Liverpool, Dean Huijsen has departed for Real Madrid and Illia Zabarnyi will likely have joined PSG, leaving them very exposed at the back.

New signings will, of course, be expected, but replacing three players at the very top of their game will be hard and, unless they find some more stars, it will likely be much weaker.

This is something a team like Liverpool will thrive on and after scoring the most goals in the division last season, they will back themselves to get a load more on the opening day.

Salah especially will be keen to add to his record of scoring on nine opening days of the season, and he is very likely to do that given the circumstances.

As well as the opportunity to expose a vulnerable Bournemouth backline, Salah does not need much help as his record against the Cherries is nothing short of sensational.

He has netted 11 times in just 10 league games against the south coast side, coming out on the winning side in all but one.

The only game he lost could have been very different too and should have been a game where he added to his tally, but he saw his penalty kick saved during that defeat.

Liverpool’s attack is in the best possible shape to attack Bournemouth’s weak defence, but no one will be more excited to try and get on the scoresheet than the Egyptian king.
