Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Bergvall helped Tottenham enjoy a successful start to their Champions League campaign on Tuesday.

On 16 September, Spurs defeated Villarreal 1-0, thanks to Luiz Junior’s early own goal.

Now that the North Londoners have enjoyed a winning start in the Champions League, boss Thomas Frank will turn his attention towards their Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday, 20 September.

Meanwhile, according to Mark Clattenburg, Tottenham star Xavi Simons was lucky not to be sent off against Villarreal.

After Tottenham defeated Villarreal on Tuesday, the North London outfit can head into their next Champions League clash, an away trip to Bodo/Glimt on 30 September, full of confidence.

Meanwhile, having featured in Europe’s most prestigious club competition for the first time in his career, Bergvall wrote on Instagram on 16 September: “A dream come true.

First Champions League game, at home in front of you and a win.

“Something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid.”

On the pitch, though, Frank has established a rich vein of form, as Tottenham have won four of their five games across all competitions this term.

Frank’s men showed resilience by defeating London rivals West Ham United 3-0 on Saturday, 13 September, in their first game since a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, in their next three Premier League games, Spurs face Brighton, Wolves, and Leeds United, so they will fancy their chances of continuing their winning run.

Tottenham will also be confident of beating League One new boys Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup last month, while upcoming Champions League opponents Bodo/Glimt are also beatable.

While the North Londoners’ win over Villarreal was fortuitous, Frank’s start to life in the Spurs dugout could not have gone much better.
