Mohamed Salah Wins PFA Award for the Third Time
Mohamed Salah has made history by becoming the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award three times. Salah previously won the award in 2017-18 and 2021-22, and he claimed the 2024-25 award during a ceremony held in Manchester on August 19, 2025.
The Liverpool forward topped a six-player shortlist that included teammates Alexis Mac Allister, and other notable footballers such as Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal's Declan Rice, and Newcastle's Alexander Isak. Salah’s win marks the 10th time a Liverpool player has been awarded the prestigious honor.
During the 2024-25 season, Salah’s outstanding performance was vital to Liverpool's success, helping the team secure their second Premier League title in recent years. He contributed an impressive 34 goals and 23 assists across 52 appearances in all competitions, including 47 goal involvements in the Premier League alone—equalling the league's all-time record for goal involvements in a single season. This performance earned him multiple individual accolades including the Golden Boot for top scorer and the Playmaker award.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward has now scored 187 Premier League goals, moving him into joint fourth place on the all-time Premier League scoring list alongside Andy Cole. His achievement surpasses other two-time winners like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Gareth Bale.
Other awards at the PFA ceremony included Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers winning the PFA Young Player of the Year, marking Villa’s first such winner since James Milner in 2010. The PFA also recognized players across the Women's Super League and other English football leagues, with full award lists released publicly.
