Liverpool have barely three weeks left in which to make some key signings at the end of the transfer window.
The Reds have done some brilliant business so far this summer, outperforming all expectations and spending some huge amounts.
But as the season now looms into view, there is still work to be done to ensure the Liverpool squad is in the best possible state to retain its Premier League title.
Liverpool still hope to sign Alexander Isak in what would be another British record transfer.
While the addition of Isak would be incredibly exciting, though, it is arguably even more important that Arne Slot brings another centre-back to Liverpool.
The Reds have only three senior centre-halves for the time being, with Joe Gomez still injured as the campaign prepares to get underway.
Thankfully, it sounds as though Liverpool are making big steps to rectify this issue.

One of the centre-backs most heavily linked with Liverpool over recent weeks has been Parma youngster Giovanni Leoni.
Only 18, Leoni looks like a good option for Liverpool as they aim to bring in an up-and-comer to challenge Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Gomez.

However, reports on Friday suggested that Liverpool felt Inter Milan were leading the race for Leoni as he favoured working with former manager Christian Chivu.
Speaking to his Italian language YouTube channel on Saturday morning, though, journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool may now have turned things around.

While commenting on Inter’s search for a new centre-back this summer, Romano claimed that they need to sell some current players first, and touched on the fact that Liverpool are growing more and more interested.
“We know about the appreciation of Leoni [from Inter], but Liverpool, guys, Liverpool are increasingly interested in him,” says the transfer expert.
“It must be said that Liverpool’s interest is becoming stronger and stronger, more and more concrete.”

Although there remains a feeling that Liverpool could move to sign Marc Guehi in the last weeks of the window, the chances of that happening appear to be fading.
Instead, Leoni has emerged as the player most likely to find himself at Anfield.
The teenager looks like a real prospect, and with reported price tag of around £35m, he would not break the bank for Liverpool.
There are other names still under consideration, and Rousing The Kop understands that Charlie Cresswell is still in the running for Liverpool.
As RTK revealed on Friday, Leoni has been urged to stay in Italy by national team manager Gennaro Gattuso, but it seems the 18-year-old may ignore those calls and head to Merseyside instead.
