Morgan Gibbs-White is preparing to assume a new role for Nottingham Forest after the major developments over his future at the club.

After securing European football following a sensational first full season under Nuno Espirito Santo, it wasn’t surprising the club would be approached for it’s brightest stars.

Forest lost Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for a deal worth up to £55million (Sky Sports), suggesting other departures were to follow.

Both Danilo and Ramon Sosa left for Brazil, but the main focus was Gibbs-White’s links with Europa League champions Tottenham.

Spurs thought they had activated the £60m release clause in the playmaker’s contract, only for the England international to sign a three-year-deal two weeks later.

Now the highest earning player in the club’s history on £150,000-per-week, the ex-Wolves man will need to show why he is worth keeping.

Given his return of seven goals and eight assists in all competition last season, the former Sheffield player “effective task is to deliver double figures for goals and assists” in the new campaign.

In particular, the number 10 needs to be “even more central” both domestically and in Europe for Forest to repay the faith shown by Angelos Marinakis.
