Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers was among the players to respond to a teammate confirming their exit from the club.

It has been a challenging summer window for Aston Villa, with several departures and limited movement in terms of new arrivals.

Football Insider revealed Aston Villa may be forced to cash in on key names in order to stay compliant with UEFA’s financial regulations.

Big players such as Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Martinez and Rogers himself have all been linked with possible exits amid the financial pressure.

They have already seen the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Jacob Ramsey leaving Unai Emery’s side in recent weeks, and now another departure has been confirmed, prompting reaction from those still at the club.

Leon Bailey has become the latest Aston Villa player to head for the exit this summer, sealing a season-long loan move to Roma which includes an option to buy.

The winger confirmed the switch with a post on Instagram, writing: “Grateful for this new chapter, thank you for the warm welcome Roma.”

His update drew plenty of reaction from current and former teammates, with Rogers commenting: “Go rip it up my guy” alongside a tear and heart emoji.

Lucas Digne and John McGinn were also among those who liked the message.

Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 in a £25million deal and went on to score 22 goals in 144 appearances across all competitions.

Football Insider reported that Aston Villa were keen to sell Bailey permanently this summer, but instead agreed to a loan with an option to buy, understood to be worth around £19million.

The 28-year-old struggled for consistent form last season, scoring just two goals while often finding himself behind Rogers and loanees Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio in the pecking order.

While Bailey departs, Villa are fighting hard to keep hold of Rogers after his impressive form since arriving at the club in February 2024.

The forward’s performances have inevitably attracted interest, with Football Insider revealing Chelsea proposing a player-plus-cash offer for Rogers involving Tosin Adarabioyo and Nicolas Jackson.

Enzo Maresca has identified the Englishman as a suitable profile, but it has since been reported that Unai Emery is determined to keep him.

Aston Villa are prepared to do everything possible to retain Rogers, who is viewed as a crucial part of Emery’s long-term plans.
