Thu 18 September 2025 12:50, UK

Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers shared a determined message to supporters and hit back at critics as speculation around his future continues.

Aston Villa were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the third round by Brentford on 16 September at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Despite Harvey Elliott scoring on his Villa debut, Aaron Hickey equalised, and the Bees won the tie on penalties.

Rogers had been introduced in the 67th minute during the game for Donyell Malen, but the Englishman couldn’t affect the game in favour of Unai Emery’s side.

His appearance came amid growing uncertainty surrounding his future as reports revealed Chelsea and Tottenham made enquiries for Rogers in the summer, but no bids were offered.

Amid the current dismal run of form for Villa, questions over his future, Rogers chose to send a message of encouragement to supporters.

Rogers posted on Instagram following the loss to Brentford with a simple but direct message to say: “Don’t count us out”.

While he was linked with a move away in the summer, he stayed beyond the deadline, but a transfer could be on the cards sooner rather than later.

Football Insider revealed Villa could be forced to accept offers for Rogers if they are unable to resolve their ongoing financial concerns.

Aston Villa sold their women’s team in a bid to comply with financial regulations rather than sell their key assets, but restrictions still loom over the club.

Rogers is considered one of the squad’s most valuable assets, and while the club are keen to retain him, their financial situation may dictate a change in their approach.

While the club may be forced to sell players in the upcoming windows, the club are also taking steps to retain key squad members.

Football Insider revealed that Aston Villa are likely to offer John McGinn a new contract in the upcoming weeks.

Everton had expressed an interest in McGinn in the summer, but their enquiries were rejected due to his importance within the dressing room.
