Liam Delap could soon be joined by Morgan Rogers in Chelsea’s attack as they weigh up a massive move for the Aston Villa star.
Chelsea‘s spending has been widespread and effective so far this summer, with Delap and Joao Pedro both making immediate impacts at the Club World Cup following their arrivals prior to the tournament.
Delap scored on his first start after a £30million move from Ipswich and Joao Pedro netted three times across the semi-finals and final as Enzo Maresca‘s side beat PSG within days of his arrival from Brighton.
Chelsea are far from done when it comes to their summer recruitment though and want to add Rogers to their £265m outlay, with Aston Villa expected to accept a £70m bid for the England playmaker amid concerns over their PSR position.

Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Aston Villa will command bids north of £80m for Rogers this summer, but those demands could slacken as the transfer window progresses into its latter stages.
Chelsea aren’t short of options alongside Delap and Pedro this season, with Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Jamie Gittens, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Tyrique George and Estevao all vying for a place.
Delap staked his starting claims in Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly against AC Milan, with two goals off the bench to cap off a 4-1 win ahead of the Blues’ Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.

Football Insider Verdict
Football Insider revealed last month that Chelsea had offered Tosin Adarabioyo and Nicolas Jackson in a player-plus-cash deal for Rogers, yet Villa have continued to hold firm with their stance on his future.
Unai Emery is a big fan of Jackson’s and had already launched talks between Aston Villa and the Chelsea forward independent of the Blues’ Rogers bid, suggesting that a deal could still be there to be struck.
Chelsea are keen to move on both Jackson and Nkunku as Maresca’s reshaping of his squad continues at Stamford Bridge, and if the duo do leave a vacancy in the frontline, expect interest in Rogers to ramp up even further.
