Thomas Tuchel will be spoilt for choice when it comes to England’s options in attacking midfield at the 2026 World Cup.
England are without Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden in this month’s international break, but Tuchel was still able to call on Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White and Morgan Rogers against Andorra.
Rogers’ second-half introduction at Villa Park was a popular one for the home fans on Saturday, but the Aston Villa star was one of three players who failed to impress and could now find his place under threat.
Tuchel has even been tipped to throw another attacking midfield name into the mix in the form of Arsenal youngster Max Dowman, and such a left-field move would provide Rogers with even more competition for a spot in the side.

Dowman being elevated to the senior squad at just 15 years old would mean Tuchel overlooking a series of other options in his attacking midfield, namely Tyler Dibling, Ethan Nwaneri and Jobe Bellingham.
Bellingham’s career remains on an upward trajectory after his £27million move from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund, and he took another step by captaining England’s Under-21s against Kazakhstan.
Lee Carsley‘s Young Lions sealed a 2-0 win within 23 minutes in Aktobe with two goals in five minutes from Nwaneri and their new skipper Bellingham, who netted his first Under-21s goal in the process.

Bellingham posted on Instagram at full-time of England’s victory with the message of; “Win on the board and first goal”, as both Rogers and his elder brother Jude responded with comments calling him “skip”.

Football Insider Verdict
Eze and Marcus Rashford are both expected to be dropped by Tuchel as he prepares to make changes for England’s upcoming clash with Serbia in Belgrade, and this may open the door for Rogers and others.
Aston Villa‘s three-strong contingent in the England squad were all left on the bench against Andorra and Ollie Watkins failed to even make it onto the pitch, showing that Tuchel won’t give out minutes freely.
With Jude Bellingham in particular on his way back to fitness and Jobe waiting in the wings at Borussia Dortmund, the onus is now on Rogers to take his club form onto the international scene ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
