Liverpool stand on the verge of making their first signing of the summer in the coming days.
The Reds look set to be busy in the market this year, with a number of positions set to be targeted for improvement.
After Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed his departure two weeks ago, it has been clear that Liverpool needed a new option at right-back.
Impressively, the Reds have moved quickly, with Jeremie Frimpong likely to arrive from Bayer Leverkusen.
Having sorted the right side of the defence, Liverpool appear ready to move onto the left.
Left-back has been a problem for Arne Slot this term, with Andy Robertson facing a noticeable decline.
Kostas Tsimikas has been tipped for a summer exit, while links have continued to Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
In an attempt to clear up where things currently stand, journalist James Pearce has stepped in to detail the ‘most likely outcome’ for Liverpool’s left-back issues.

In the lead up to the summer window, it has always felt as though Liverpool would prioritise bringing in a left-back.
That they stand on the verge of their first signing being on the opposite side of the defence is something of a surprise.

Speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Pearce agrees with this stance, explaining that Liverpool have been keen to bring in a left-back above all.
“Our understanding up to this point has been that the left side has been the priority for Liverpool in terms of strengthening there,” said the reporter.

“I think the most likely outcome is that Kerkez, or someone else if they can’t get the deal done at the price they want for Kerkez, he would come in to increase competition for places with Andy Robertson and then Kostas Tsimikas would probably move on.
“I think that’s the most likely outcome on that.”
While Pearce does stop short of saying Kerkez is the nailed-on arrival this summer, the Hungarian is the only player he mentions by name.
However, the journalist does hint that if it isn’t Kerkez, Liverpool are likely to target someone in a similar mould to he and Frimpong.
“If you think of how exciting a player Frimpong is, I think it’s similar on the other flank if you look at the profile of someone like Kerkez, how energetic and dynamic he is.
I think he certainly ticks similar boxes,” said Pearce.
Away from the Bournemouth man, there have been fresh links to Wolves defender Rayan Ait Nouri, while Rousing The Kop understands Fulham’s Antonee Robinson remains in the mix.
Exactly who will arrive may not yet be completely clear, but what is apparent is that Liverpool are still determined to strengthen, and it’s likely to be Tsimikas who pays the price.
