Sky Germany has revealed the hefty sum Eintracht Frankfurt will demand for Hugo Ekitike.
The Bundesliga club have developed the reputation of buying attackers for cheap, developing them and selling them for a fortune.
Over the last six years, they have generated over €280 million from the sale of players that they bought for cheap and developed at the club.
Omar Marmoush was the last player to have left the Waldstadion for a huge sum.
The Egypt international was linked with a big-money move to Liverpool in January.
However, the Reds never concretized their interest in the January transfer window, and Marmoush moved to Manchester City in a €75m deal.
Marmoush was in a hot scoring streak before he left.
He scored 20 goals and registered 14 assists for Frankfurt before moving to City in January.
It was thought that his departure would negatively impact Frankfurt, as he was obviously leaving with his goals.
However, the reverse was the case as Hugo Ekitike stepped up for the Bundesliga club.
The Frenchman ended the season with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances, leading to several clubs taking note and registering their interest in signing him this summer.
Liverpool have been linked with a potential move for the Frenchman, with reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Reds’ scouts have been watching him for some time now.
However, Liverpool’s interest appears to have cooled in recent weeks, especially as it has emerged that Frankfurt want a fortune to sell him.
According to the recent report by Sky Germany, Florian Plettenberg, Frankfurt want nothing less than €100 million for the striker to sanction his sale this summer.
The reporter also revealed that Chelsea have fully entered the race for Ekitike.
With Liverpool set to spend over €100 million in the deal to bring Florian Wirtz to Anfield, it looks unlikely that they will spend that amount on signing Ekitike, even though a new striker is one of the priorities of Arne Slot this summer.
