Nottingham Forest players were quick to react on social media after the club confirmed an injury within the squad.

It’s been a busy week at Nottingham Forest, with Ange Postecoglou replacing Nuno Espirito Santo as manager, and players returned from international duty.

However, the Australian manager has a tough first task as his team goes away to Arsenal.

Postecoglou has a poor record against Mikel Arteta’s side, as he failed to secure a single win over the Gunners during his time at Tottenham, but he has a chance to lay down a marker.

But just as Postecoglou begins to settle in, he has already been dealt a major setback to a key player, following confirmation by the club.

Nottingham Forest confirmed that Ola Aina has suffered a hamstring injury during international duty in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against South Africa.

The club posted the news on Instagram, which drew the reaction of teammates Murillo and Dan Ndoye, who both liked the post, while Aina himself also acknowledged the update by liking it.

Aina is a crucial figure in Forest’s defence, showcasing his quality in defence and providing an attacking threat and impressed under Nuno last term.

After helping the side finish in a European place last season, Aina signed a new contract with Forest in the summer, showcasing his importance to the team.

While the side have Neco Williams to turn to as an alternative, he often deploys as a left-back, and with Oleksandr Zinchenko unable to feature against his parent club whilst on loan, it already leaves Postecoglou with a selection headache.

Some Forest fans have already blamed Postecoglou for Aina’s injury, mentioning that he has already brought the injury “curse” to the City Ground.

As Postecoglou begins to evaluate his squad, one player who impressed during international duty is Elliot Anderson, who continues to attract interest from Man United.

However, Football Insider revealed Forest have no plans to sell Anderson, and that Postecoglou is desperate to keep his best players.

Despite United’s interest, he remains under contract at the City Ground until 2029 and the club are under no pressure to sell, demonstrating their backing of their new coach.
