Cole Palmer has sent his congratulations to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers after winning a massive award.
Both midfielders endured poor starts to the Premier League campaign after both featuring in bore-draws in the season-openers.
Palmer was a ghost in Chelsea‘s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace which featured Tottenham target Eberechi Eze waving goodbye to fans ahead of a projected move.
Long-term Chelsea target Rogers was also pretty forgettable as Villa played with 10-men against a tenacious Newcastle side, also ending 0-0.
Last night (19 August) was the yearly PFA Premier League awards as the best players for the 2024-25 season were rewarded for their incredible performances last campaign, where Mo Salah backed Arsenal as title favourites, and Alexander Isak dropped a bombshell on Newcastle in light of his absence.
Taking to Instagram stories (19 August), despite not winning any awards on the night, Palmer sent his congratulations to fellow England youngster Rogers who won the PFA Young Player of the Year 2024-25.
A year prior, the Chelsea talisman won the prestigious accolade as two Man City academy graduates won the award in back-to-back seasons.

Football Insider verdict
Considering how impressive the Englishman was in the 2023-24 campaign when he won the Young Player of the Year award, his recent form has been worrying.
In the second half of the 2024-25 season, the 23-year-old completely dipped in form, albeit his profligate teammates didn’t help him despite creating chances from a new central attacking role.
The use of Enzo Fernandez in the eight alongside Moises Caicedo hampered the former Man City man’s licence to roam as he struggled to get on the ball.

In the FIFA Club World Cup, the England international was deployed on the right-hand side and returned to his outstanding best, having also put in a star turn as Chelsea beat Real Betis in the Europa Conference League final.
However, Enzo Maresca has gone back to the same positioning this season which has seen Palmer regress yet again.
The Italian manager must analyse the performance of his main creator and realise he needs to utilise him in a different role, given the attacker is lacking any desire to play behind the striker.
If “ice cold” Palmer cannot improve his displays against West Ham this Friday (22 August), there will be even more questions asked of the Blues talisman.
