Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo, Carragher revealed he will fully support Slot as Liverpool’s next manager.
We will see till it’s confirmed, but I will back any Liverpool manager.
Any manager I would back him,” Carragher said.
He was then asked whether his first choice would have been Slot.
“No, my choice would have been Xabi Alonso.”
The former Liverpool defender also went onto explain how different the managerial market is compared to when the Reds appointed Jurgen Klopp for example.
I think we are in an era now sort of the up-and-coming managers, and Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon and Arne Slot of Feyenoord were the two names.”
Carragher added: “Most Liverpool fans who go to the match would not have really known who the man was from Feyenoord, so, yeah, it’s not like bringing in Rafa Benitez like Liverpool did when I was there or Liverpool bringing in Jurgen Klopp, who people were aware of them.
