Kostas Tsimikas and Cody Gakpo might not be partnering up on Liverpool’s left-hand side for much longer.
Liverpool‘s Premier League title defence gets underway against Bournemouth on 15 August, but the Reds’ season is already up and running after their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.
Milos Kerkez has immediately become Liverpool’s first-choice left-back after his £40million move from Bournemouth this summer, as Andy Robertson came off the bench to replace him late on at Wembley.
Robertson had been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in the wake of Kerkez’s arrival at Anfield, but with the Scot set to stay put for now, the writing is on the wall for Liverpool’s third-choice left-back.

Tsimikas has made 115 appearances in five seasons since his move to Liverpool in 2020, but only 18 of these came as starts last term as the Greece international played a bit-part role in their title success.
Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are both potential suitors for Tsimikas should he decide to move on in search of regular first-team football this summer, but the 29-year-old has not pushed for an exit.
Liverpool’s now third-choice left-back faces a potentially imminent decision over his Reds future, and Tsimikas posted on Instagram on 13 August with a selection of images from his off-season break.

Tsimikas captioned his post with a singluar camera emoji, as a clearly impressed Gakpo commented to say; “Oh my goodness” at the selection of photos.

Football Insider Verdict
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are ready to accept any offer that comes their way for Tsimikas, with the Greek full-back well down the pecking order.
Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley are expected to battle it out for a place on the opposite side of Liverpool’s defence, but it’s already clear that Kerkez is the new first-choice at left-back this season.
Robertson’s future is yet to be completely decided in a potential lifeline for Tsimikas, but with Kerkez eight years his junior, the former Olympiacos man’s chances of a starting berth are unlikely at best.
