Liverpool’s starting XI next season could look very different from the one which ended the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds have already been active in the transfer market and look likely to do a number of other deals before the season begins.
For now, the only confirmed addition to the first-team Liverpool squad has been Jeremie Frimpong, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of May.
Frimpong has joined as a nominal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the Dutchman more than capable of filling in at right-back.
However, it has also been widely suggested that Frimpong could play further up the pitch for Liverpool, as Arne Slot aims to get the most out of his versatility.
Although Slot will already have a plan for Frimpong, he’ll no doubt be keeping an eye on how countryman Ronald Koeman is using the 24-year-old for the Netherlands.

Frimpong started at right wing for Koeman on Saturday as the Netherlands faced Finland in a World Cup qualifier.
It was perhaps not the Liverpool man’s best display, with the Dutch press giving a lukewarm verdict on Frimpong‘s efforts.

He has that ability.”

“You want Jeremie in a one-on-one even more often,” added Koeman.
The spaces were very small for Frimpong to play one-on-one.”
While it is possible that Slot has a very different idea to Koeman, it seems probable that Frimpong will spend some time on the right wing for Liverpool.
Clearly, that would have to mean that Mohamed Salah is not playing, however, and that does not happen very often.
What is worth noting is that the Africa Cup of Nations will take place in December this year.
As a result, Salah is guaranteed to miss a chunk of games.
With the tournament arriving a little earlier than usual, Liverpool will have to make do without the Egyptian for a few matches at least.
Barring injury, Frimpong will almost certainly fill in for Salah during this period.
