A countdown clock shows shoppers when Classic Football Shirts will open in Liverpool

A mysterious red countdown timer has appeared on the front of a shuttered shop in Liverpool city centre.

The store, on College Lane, was formerly home to family-run business Lalligrass Himalayan Arts Shop, which closed its doors for the final time in March.

The building has been empty since the closure - but now a digital clock has appeared on the store's frontage leaving shoppers guessing what it means.

The store will re-open on Friday, August 1 as a new Classic Football Shirts venue, bringing a temporary store called The Vault which will open to shoppers at 9am.

The retail and exhibition space will showcase "some of the most iconic and rare pieces from Adidas’ rich footballing history", and has been co-ordinated to fall on the same day as the official launch of the 2025/26 Liverpool FC kit.

The Adidas home shirt will be the first under the Club's new partnership with the global sports brand, with additional retail events expected at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium store.

Today's game with Yokohama Marinos will be the final time that the Nike strip is worn for a game.

In Liverpool city centre, Classic Football Shirts will create a "curated exhibition of match-worn and rare Adidas football shirts, worn by legends in iconic fixtures", as well as a selection of classic Adidas shirts and archive product available to purchase.

The store will only be a temporary addition to the city centre's shopping offering, with a weekend of activities and events planned to take place at the College Lane site, including special giveaways.

Opening times for the weekend will be confirmed shortly, with the store expected to open from Friday, August 1 until Monday, August 4.

Ahead of the launch, the store exterior has been transformed into a striking countdown installation.

Sharing the news of the pop-up shop on social media, Classic Football Shirts was met with excited comments from shoppers.

One Liverpool FC fan commented to say: "FINALLY.

It was such a pain to go to London." Another Reds fan commented to say: "Hold up, this might just become my go-to shop in Liverpool now."

One excited shopper said: "I've dreamt of this day."

The unit has been empty since the closure of Lalligrass in March.

We make sure that they receive a good price for their hard work and we are always on the lookout for worthwhile charitable groups and small family workshops to support."

But after a number of years at the College Lane site, a notice appeared in the window in February stating that the shop would soon close its doors.
