As recently as the turn of the year, nobody would have dared stick their head above the parapet and suggest that Liverpool should sell Mohamed Salah.
It's expected that there will once again be Saudi transfer interest, and with Salah set to enter the final year of his Liverpool contract, there's theoretically a case for cashing in.
It's worth at least entertaining that notion; Michael Edwards and incoming sporting director Richard Hughes should enter negotiations with an open mind.
But negotiations are a must — Salah may have taken a little time to get up to speed after his rare injury, but it takes a short memory indeed to conclude that he can no longer be a pivotal figure at the highest level, and the starting point must be that the club wants to keep hold of a truly world-class player.

Even if Saudi overtures are kept at bay for another season, however, Liverpool will need to think about the future at some point.
The 23-year-old has adapted to Premier League life quickly after joining from Ajax last summer, impressing with 10 league goal involvements as well as five goals in eight Europa League outings.
He didn't come cheaply to the Olympic Stadium in the first place, so Liverpool would certainly have to pay a pretty penny.
Likewise, Salah's departure is far from certain.
Liverpool.com says: It's good for Liverpool to do this background work on Salah successors.
Whether Salah would even want to go there is unclear, with the league failing to impress despite the influx of stars, but Liverpool has got the backroom structure in place to adapt to whatever comes.
As for Kudus, he looks as good an option as any.
