Napoli are planning a double Liverpool swoop by signing attackers Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez during the summer transfer window.
Both Chiesa and Nunez struggled to receive a significant gametime last season under boss Arne Slot in their title-winning season.
Slot added Chiesa during the last summer and used the season to assess the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
As Liverpool continues to make their moves in the summer, they will let go of players who failed to impress.
There is no denying that both Chiesa and Nunez have immense talent and the adoration of the fanbase at Liverpool.
However, a potential departure is mutually beneficial for both the players and the Merseyside club that is transitioning rather quickly.
According to the Italian publication Calciomercato, Napoli wants to sign both Nunez and Chiesa from Liverpool during the summer window.
Liverpool signed Chiesa for £12.5m from Juventus last summer and have left the decision to stay or leave to him.
Furthermore, David Ornstein reported that Liverpool rejected a €70 million (£60m) bid for Nunez from Al-Nassr in January, and they will not accept anything less than that figure after securing the Premier League with the Uruguayan.
A combined fee of more than £72.5m would be required for Napoli to lure the two attackers away from Liverpool.
Selling Chiesa and Nunez will help Liverpool to balance the accounts, even though they are comfortably operating within the Profit and Sustainability rule.
