The video will start in 8 Cancel Nathaniel Clyne has opened up on his injury nightmare that saw him lose his Liverpool place to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

"At the start of my LFC career I was playing regularly and then, unfortunately, I got a big injury," Clyne told Sky Sports.

However, a serious injury saw him ruled out for over a year, which offered Alexander-Arnold a route into the side after breaking through the academy.

Clyne was a regular at Liverpool after signing from Southampton in 2015.

Having spent six months on loan at Palace at the end of the 2018/19 season, an ACL injury saw him ruled out for the entirety of their Premier League title win too.

"As soon as my agent told me Palace were interested I was delighted."

The Reds' homegrown talent has now established himself as one of the world's best right-backs, making it impossible for Clyne to regain his place in the team.
