Liverpool youngster Layton Stewart has been tipped for big things, with the forward included in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2019 list.

It might not be this season necessarily, but Stewart could be in for big things at Anfield.

Writing for The Guardian, reporter Andy Hunter said: “Another talent from the fertile breeding ground of Huyton and one who has made an immediate impression for Liverpool’s under-18s this season.

“Stewart is a prolific goalscorer with an explosive burst of place and good positional awareness.

The 17-year-old has yet to make his bow for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side, but has been a regular for the Reds’ U18s so far this season.

Two goals on his debut, followed by two winners in the 88th minute of matches, including one against bitter rivals Manchester United, show that this is a player for the big occasion, and one who handles pressure with ease.

“He appeared for Steven Gerrard’s under-18s as an under-15s schoolboy but this is his first season as a regular at that level and the goals are already flowing.” Liverpool love nothing more than a precocious talent, and it looks as if they might have another on their hands with Stewart.
