But Liverpool continued their 100% start to the defence of their Premier League title with a win over nearest rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal with a thumping 30-yard free-kick seven minutes from time to move the Reds two points clear after three games of the new campaign.
It made for a satisfying ending at Anfield.
And while the ECHO was in attendance and provided our usual level of coverage, here's how the national media viewed another important result for Arne Slot's side.

Oliver Holt in the Daily Mail believes the imminent signing of Alexander Isak for £125million from Newcastle United will make Liverpool an even scarier prospect.
"Forget the idea that the recruitment of Isak might destabilise them," he pens.
"Isak is too good a player and Slot too good a manager for that to be an issue.
"If Isak signs for Liverpool on Monday, the rest of the league should be afraid.
It's already been a busy summer for the Premier League champions but they could still pull off a couple of blockbuster signings as the window comes to a close.
Alexander Isak's future remains unresolved, with the striker refusing to play or train for Newcastle United.
"And on a day when Manchester City had already lost further ground with defeat at Brighton, Dominik Szoboszlai's moment of genius against Arsenal was enough remind anyone who might have forgotten that it is Liverpool who remain very much the team to beat.
"A lot has been spoken about the Premier League champions' start to the season, much of it in negative tones, and while plenty has been fair and even-handed, the discourse has, at times, been out of sync with a team who had actually won their first two fixtures against an intense Bournemouth and a scorned Newcastle United, under the white-hot glare of the St James' Park floodlights, no less.
"There have been areas to assess, things to tweak and parts to improve, of course, but as has been so readily pointed out by Arne Slot, the Premier League is now arguably as strong as it has ever been and few games can be navigated successfully at half speed."
