Liverpool’s cityscape is set to welcome another stirring tribute to the late Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, as a new mural begins to emerge on the front of The Halfway House pub in Kirkdale.

Fans first caught sight of the artwork’s early stages after X user @lfc_shirts shared an image showing Jota’s unmistakable likeness against a vivid red and yellow backdrop on social media.

Artist Paul Curtis – whose previous projects include the Hillsborough advocate Anne Williams mural – has been commissioned to complete the piece on the wall chosen for it’s close proximity to Anfield.

A fan-driven crowdfunding appeal aimed initially at raising £2,000 to cover materials soared past £21,000 within 35 minutes, with surplus donations earmarked for a foundation honoring both brothers.

While The Halfway House mural commands attention in Kirkdale, it is just one of several projects underway across Liverpool.

On Sybil Road facing Anfield, supporters have already added personal messages and floral tributes to a separate mural.

As the artwork matures over the coming week, it will stand alongside the swelling memorials outside Anfield – flowers, scarves and cards laid by Arne Slot, Michael Edwards and fellow Reds -serving as a permanent testament to Jota’s impact on and off the pitch.

Meanwhile, the club have also officially confirmed the tributes planned for Jota and his brother during the friendly vs Preston North End on Sunday.

Before the 3pm kick-off, proceedings will open with a stirring rendition of Liverpool’s iconic anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” This will be followed by the home side joining visiting supporters to lay a commemorative wreath.

A minute’s silence will then be held in tribute to Diogo and Andre, with digital memorials displayed on stadium screens and pitch side LED boards throughout the ground.

As a further mark of respect, players from both teams will wear black armbands for the duration of the match.
