Liverpool’s transfer window was a quiet one last summer.

The club welcomed Arne Slot to the club, a new coach with fresh energy and new ideas, it was a summer of change for Liverpool as the city bid farewell to the iconic Jurgen Klopp.

Last summer, it appeared that a larger importance was placed on Slot understanding his new squad and implementing his style of play, rather than adding multiple names to an already settled squad.

Federico Chiesa was the only notable addition, arriving from Juventus but failing to make an impact at the club thus far, limited to just 41 minutes in the Premier League this season with only two games left.

However, there was another transfer completed that many people may have forgot about.

Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed by Liverpool last summer for £29million but was sent on loan to the club he was signed from, Valencia, for the 2024/25 season.

After another impressive campaign, he is now set to June up with his teammates this summer.

The signing of the Georgian shot-stopper will most likely signal the end of Caoimhin Kelleher’s time at the club, with the second-choice keeper eager to move away in search of regular football.

Ahead of Valenica’s final home game of the season, as they welcome Athletic Bilbao to the Mestalla Stadium, Mamardashvili has taken to Instagram to deliver an emotional farwell story post to his fans.

It reads: “It’s always a pleasure defending the goal of this club.”

“Tomorrow, I will play my final game at home with this shirt.

Upward always.”

Mamardashvili has been signed to challenge Alisson for the No.1 spot, but with the Brazilian arguably being the best goalkeeper in the world, the new addition faces an upwards battle to try and knock Alisson to the bench.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has impressed in a Valencia team that has struggled this season, currently sat in 11th position, securing eight clean sheets in 32 league game this campaign.
