Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi(Image: Eddie Keogh - The FA/The FA via Getty Images)Liverpool may have missed out on Marc Guehi by the end of last Monday's transfer deadline day, however the saga is far from over.
Guehi had already completed his medical and was primed to sign a five-year contract before it was decided he had to stay at Selhurst Park.
He reportedly won't sign a contract extension at Palace, therefore the upcoming January transfer window and next summer seem like they will be key to Liverpool's hopes of signing their target.

In the meantime Guehi has played the majority of England's 2-0 win over Andorra in FIFA World Cup qualifying.
Here, the ECHO looks at the latest headlines surrounding the defender's future transfer.
Football Insider claim if Guehi is to move at the next opportunity in January 2026, Crystal Palace will dock £10m off the total Liverpool were set to pay last week.
The Reds had agreed £35m plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause - here it is said the England international will be worth £25m with six months remaining on his contract.
They believe the future of Ibrahima Konate could impact plans to try again for Guehi.
The Frenchman is not far away from the final six months of his own contract at Anfield.
But as the ECHO reported all along, Liverpool have been happy to play a waiting game if that means signing Guehi for free next summer.
Speaking on talkSPORT, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes Guehi could 'easily' join another club during the next transfer window.
First, he had praise for the 25-year-old in saying: "I’m just a delighted a player has honoured his contract...
That’s how it should be, he’s being a professional.
"Player power has got stronger, obviously if your contract is running down and you’re down to one year or you’re in a position where your contract has run out, you have nearly all the power."
He added: "Marc Guehi could easily sign for a club in January, only four months away."
