Marc Guehi was left furious after talks to seal his dream Liverpool transfer were delayed on deadline day, with Steve Parish instead attending a gym session.

The Crystal Palace and England defender looked set to complete a sensational move to Anfield on deadline day.

Liverpool had agreed a £35m fee with the Eagles, while he had undergone a medical in London in anticipation of the move.

According to the BBC, Palace chairman Parish only sat down with Guehi and his representatives at 6pm on deadline day - just one hour before the window closed.

Parish, 60, had reportedly been at a fitness class at a Soho gym before making his way over to meet Guehi.

“It’s not a wish or a gift to Oliver Glasner, it’s necessary for playing a successful season.

But he is seen more as one for the future as opposed to a replacement for Guehi.

Guehi will not immediately return to Selhurst Park having been called up into Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad for upcoming World cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
