New details are emerging from the tragic crash that claimed the lives of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva.

Spanish police had earlier suggested that Jota may have been speeding when his Lamborghini crashed and caught fire near Zamora.

But now, two eyewitnesses have stepped forward — and their accounts tell a very different story.

The incident happened on the A-52 motorway as Jota was driving to Santander with his brother.

But doubts are growing about whether speed was really the issue.

Truck driver Jose Azevedo, who filmed the car in flames, said in a video: “They passed me super calmly, without speeding.”

He added that he tried to help, but the crash impact left him nothing he could do.

He said he only realised who was in the car the next day after sharing the footage with his wife.

Another trucker, Jose Aleixo Duarte, said he was overtaken by Jota just minutes before the crash.

“The car was going at a moderate speed,” he told a Portuguese outlet, also criticising the poor condition of the road.

Both witnesses reject the theory that Jota was driving dangerously.
