Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are in-demand strikers in this summer’s transfer market and have both been linked with Liverpool and Newcastle United, respectively.
With Darwin Nunez expected to leave should a suitable offer, in excess of £50m, be forthcoming, the Reds are in the market for a new striker.
Luis Diaz, who featured as centre forward last season, is wanted by both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, with the latter having seen a €67.5m bid (£58.6m) rejected by Liverpool.
The 28-year-old is considered an important player, and the Premier League champions are not willing to sell him.
There are also doubts over the long-term Anfield future of Federico Chiesa, who made a surprise start down the middle in the 3-1 win over Preston North End last Sunday.
Isak and Ekitike are high on Liverpool’s radar?
Isak is reportedly keen to move to Anfield, however, the Reds would have to break the British transfer record once again this summer.
Newcastle are reportedly bracing themselves for an official offer from Liverpool for Isak that could be in the region of £130m.
The Magpies, just like Liverpool, have no interest in selling their key player and value him at least at £150m.
According to Sky Sports News, Arne Slot’s side are expected to rival Newcastle for Hugo Ekitike after being told Isak is not for sale in this window.
The Reds are set to turn their attentions to the Eintracht Frankfurt star, who was the subject of a rejected club-record bid from Newcastle.
Frankfurt turned down Newcastle’s formal £70m bid for the 23-year-old, who they value at £85m.
Eddie Howe’s side have already held talks with Ekitike’s representatives in Austria, as they look to sign the striker they have been monitoring for a number of years.
The Frenchman scored 22 goals in 48 games across all competitions last season for Frankfurt as they secured Champions League qualification.
