Newcastle United have already started looking around for a potential replacement for Liverpool-linked Alexander Isak.
The Magpies have entered the market for a striker after Isak informed them of his desire to depart St.
James’ Park this summer.
The Swede is wanted by Liverpool, with the Reds said to be readying a record-breaking bid for him.
Amid the interest from Liverpool and Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in Isak, Newcastle have begun making concrete move to sign a replacement for the striker.
This is according to The Atheltic, who report that Eddie Howe’s side have set their sights on signing Benjamin Sesko as a potential replacement for Isak.
Incidentally, the Slovakian was one of the strikers Liverpool were interested in earlier this summer.
Newcastle are now considering him as a player they could sign should Isak depart.
“Newcastle United are exploring a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the event that Alexander Isak leaves,” The Athletic report said.
“The St James’ Park club have a long-standing interest in Sesko, who is a top target should Isak depart, although a deal would be highly challenging from a financial perspective.”
