Newcastle United are reportedly targeting a highly sought-after Premier League forward, setting up a potential battle with top clubs like Liverpool for his signature.

It’s no secret that Premier League clubs are already planning summer reinforcements — and Newcastle United look to be getting an early start.

Since Miguel Almiron left midway through the season, the Magpies have lacked a natural replacement on the right wing.

Jacob Murphy has stepped up in his absence, producing some of the best performances of his career.

He’s been full of energy, creating chances, scoring goals, and putting in a shift every single game.

Since December, only Mohamed Salah has more assists in the league than Murphy.

He’s also in the top 10 for goals and assists, high-speed runs, and distance sprinted.

His form has been so impressive that Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall said it might even earn him an England call-up.

Still, Newcastle want more depth.

Manager Eddie Howe hinted at it earlier this year, saying, “The natural feeling would be that we would need a replacement eventually.”

Now, Liverpool may have company in the race for one of the Premier League’s standout forwards.

According to Chroncle Live, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo – a player Liverpool have scouted in recent months.

Mbeumo has had his best season yet.

He’s scored 18 league goals and assisted six more in just 33 games.

Only Salah, Alexander Isak, Haaland, and Chris Wood have more goals.

And it’s not just the stats.

When asked about a potential price tag, he said only two words: “A lot.”

Frank added: “I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford.

But, at the same time, we have to reinforce that there are maybe 10 clubs in the world who are not selling clubs.”

“So, of course, if the right price is coming, and that’s going to be expensive, then I’m pretty sure the club will be open for it.

But I’m very happy he’s here and I’m convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”

Liverpool like Mbeumo.

But if Newcastle move quickly, Arne Slot’s side may need to rethink their summer plans.
