Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.
The Reds had a £110m bid rejected earlier this month, and it remains to be seen whether they will return with another offer before the end of the summer window.
Taking to social media earlier this week, Isak released a statement in which he said his relationship with Newcastle is now over.
The forward accused the club of 'broken promises' and spoke of a 'loss of trust', reaffirming his desire to leave.
But while Newcastle responded late on Tuesday night to say they were disappointed at the Sweden international’s message, they did leave the door open for the 25-year-old to return to the fold.

However, having missed last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, Isak will once again be absent from the Newcastle squad to face Liverpool on Monday night.
But while the Magpies remain in a standoff with their wantaway forward, they have made the decision to allow Matt Targett to leave St James' Park on loan this summer.
The Chronicle are reporting that Targett is believed to be on Middlesbrough's wish-list with the Teessiders pondering whether to pay a portion of his wage packet, believed to be around £100,000 per week.
Speaking about the situation with Isak on Friday morning, Eddie Howe said: “I think it is a lose-lose situation to a degree for us because I don’t think we can come out of this winning in any situation.
“That is why I have said all summer it is a difficult situation for the club to manage.
“We love Alex in the sense of what has done for this football club since he has been here, what he has contributed, what he has given, how professional he’s been and this has just been an unfortunate few months that looks like it is coming to an end.
“And it will come to an end pretty quickly and then we can focus on the football again.”
