Newcastle United are reportedly plotting transfer talks with Aston Villa over Jacob Ramsey as speculation continues around the future of Liverpool target Alexander Isak.
Despite the Swede being banished from the first-team and reports suggesting he may refuse to play for the club again, the Magpies are pushing on with other transfer targets.
It has been said that Eddie Howe's side are the favoured destination for 24-year-old Ramsey as he enters the final two years of his contract at Villa Park.
In the Midlands, there has been no agreement despite several offers to extend his stay which has led to both clubs becoming open minded to find a solution, which The Athletic claims is likely to mean an exit.
West Ham United are reportedly also interested but Newcastle are said to be in pole position with the English youngster preferring a North East switch.

It has been a demoralising transfer window for the Magpies.
After qualifying for the Champions League, Newcastle have failed to capitalise on their return to Europe's top table.
This summer has seen them miss out on a number of transfer targets including Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and Benjamin Sesko, who opted for a move to Manchester United - despite receiving a better financial offer from St James' Park.
They continue to be linked with numerous other targets to add reinforcements in attacking areas with Rasmus Hojlund and Nicolas Jackson linked after their playing time come under question at the Red Devils and Chelsea, respectively.

It has been suggested that for the time being, Ramsey is a priority for Newcastle as they look to strengthen in his position and in central attacking areas.
Liverpool remain linked with Isak as reports suggest there is an 'adamance' from the player's side that he will not re-integrate with the squad, nor will he adorn the black and white again.
