Newcastle United would reportedly prefer to sell to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal over Liverpool.

Isak has been one of the major stories of the summer transfer window.

The future of the 25-year-old striker was subject to speculation earlier in the summer as Liverpool and Arsenal were thought to be interested.

However, Newcastle United have always made it clear they don’t want to sell Isak.

But in a shocking twist of events, the Swede told Eddie Howe that he is keen on leaving this summer.

Liverpool are said to be leading the race for his signature.

The Reds have already expressed their interest in signing the Swedish international and are reportedly willing to make a record-breaking bid to secure his services.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Arne Slot’s side are readying an formal record offer for the striker.

However, talkSPORT is now reporting that Newcastle United would like to sell Isak to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, rather than lose him to Liverpool despite the Reds’ desire to break the British transfer record for the 25-year-old’s signature.

“With the Swede’s current contract at St James’ Park running until 2028, the Geordies would want £150million for their star man,” the report said.

“This would represent a new British record transfer fee, after Liverpool previously broke new ground with the £116m arrival of Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.

“The Reds could now end up potentially smashing it again with Isak, who are willing to meet Newcastle’s steep valuation,”

“Al Hilal are also keen on the Sweden international, with the Saudi side currently preparing a bid understood to be over £130m?

While Newcastle are desperate to keep hold of their talisman, talkSPORT understands they would rather see Isak head to Saudi Arabia than join a Premier League rival if their hand was forced.

Newcastle are clearly reluctant to strengthen a domestic competitor.

The latest report suggests the Magpies view selling to Liverpool as a direct threat to their top-four ambitions and are instead open to doing business with Al-Hilal, who are also ready to meet Newcastle’s steep valuation.

Al-Hilal, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund — which also has ownership ties to Newcastle — are offering a tax-free mega deal that includes a salary package far beyond what Liverpool can provide.

Isak is said to be weighing up both options, with Champions League football and Premier League competition drawing him toward Anfield, but financial incentives from Saudi Arabia offering a tempting alternative.
