Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United after informing the club he wants to explore his options this summer.

Isak missed their pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh injury.

The 25-year-old travelled to Spain to train on his own at his former side, Real Sociedad, before reporting to the club’s training ground on Monday.

Manager Eddie Howe has disclosed that Isak must “earn the right” to train with his squad.

“You have to earn the right to train with us,” Howe said.

“We are Newcastle United.

The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad – you have to act in the right way.

So that is also at play here.

“We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group.

No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.”

Isak, who is regarded as one of the best forwards in the world, moved to Newcastle United in a £60m move from Sociedad in 2022.

The Sweden international scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season and helped the Magpies qualify for the Champions League.

He also scored in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle are prepared to reluctantly cash in on Isak if they secure a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Magpies are confident of completing a deal for Sesko after making a fresh offer of £70million plus add-ons.

It is believed that Sesko’s arrival would pave the way for Isak to move to Liverpool, providing the two clubs can agree a fee.

Liverpool’s initial offer was rejected by Newcastle last week?

Alexander Isak is keen on joining the Premier League champions, with personal terms not believed to be an issue.
