Alexander Isak has been a long-term target for Liverpool, but with Newcastle standing firm on their stance that the Swede is not for sale, they are now looking to Ekitike to strengthen their attacking department.
Newcastle face the exciting prospect of Champions League football next season, as well as three domestic competitions to contend with, and are therefore looking at securing a high quality forward that can rotate with Isak next season.
Eddie Howe has Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes occupying the left-flank, with new £55m signing Anthony Elanga proving depth alongside Jacob Murphy on the right-wing, but Alexander Isak currently has no direct competition.
U21 Denmark international William Osula is currently the only senior striker at the club following the departure of Callum Wilson.
The report goes on to state that given the likes of Manchester United, Cheslea and Liverpool have all been linked with the 23-year-old, Newcastle are naturally cautious, but they are said to now be looking into the possibility of striking a deal with the Bundesliga side.

Once in Jnauary 2022 nd again in the summer transfer window later that year.
They will face stern competition from Liverpool and other Premier League clubs if they are to open negotiations with the player.
It is clear to see that whoever does strike a deal for Hugo Ekitike this summer, they will be getting a top-class player as his talent has been highlighted by many of the Premier League’s top clubs.
