Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle United he wants to leave the club and secure a dream move to Liverpool, despite the Magpies rejecting an opening £110million bid from the Reds.

The 25-year-old has yet to feature for Newcastle this season and has been training away from the first team while waiting for a resolution.

His last appearance came on May 25 at the end of the previous campaign, and he subsequently missed the entire pre-season as tensions with the club escalated.

In a statement released on social media, Isak accused Newcastle of breaking a promise to allow him to leave this summer.

The Magpies strongly denied making such a commitment and remain adamant that the forward is not for sale.

Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben and a PIF delegation met Isak at his home in a last-ditch effort to persuade him to reintegrate with the squad.

The club are said to be open to offering him a new contract should he recommit his future to St James’ Park.

Isak has been included in the Sweden squad despite not featuring for Newcastle this season, as he continues to push for a move away from the club.

He is part of Sweden’s 24-man squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

According to i newspaper, Newcastle are bracing themselves for a second Liverpool bid for Alexander Isak as the saga looks set to go down to the wire before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Reds are only prepared to return with a fresh offer if they believe there is a realistic chance of success, a stance that has not changed since early August.

With the forward refusing to play and showing no signs of backing down, the standoff could continue until the final 24 hours of the window.
