Liverpool have enjoyed an impressive transfer window so far, securing a new record signing in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz is expected to help fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid in June.
Additionally, the Reds have added promising young talents Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike to bolster squad depth and quality.
However, Liverpool may not be finished yet.
Their pursuit of Alexander Isak is gaining momentum, and defensive reinforcements could still be on the way.
Despite making bold moves to strengthen their attack, the Reds appear intent on balancing the squad by securing the future of their defence.
Newcastle United and Liverpool have been closely linked in several transfer battles this summer.
The Premier League champions have already beaten Newcastle to the signing of Ekitike and are now targeting Alexander Isak, who reported to Newcastle’s training ground after his personal training camp in Spain on Monday.
The 25-year-old had been training at his former club Real Sociedad’s headquarters on his own, after refusing to join Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia, having reported a thigh injury.
He has informed the club that he wants to explore opportunities elsewhere, and Liverpool are keen on signing him, having seen their initial bid rejected by Eddie Howe’s side last week.
Both clubs are set to compete for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who is entering the final year of his contract.
Guehi is expected to leave Palace this summer.
DaveOCKOP.com exclusively revealed that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Guehi on personal terms.
However, Newcastle are not willing to give up on the England international.
According to The Times, Newcastle United are expected to renew their interest in Guehi but are unwilling to exceed £40million, falling short of Palace’s £50million asking price.
Liverpool are similarly deterred by the valuation, but with the window closing soon and Guehi’s contract situation, the Eagles may have to lower their demands.
The 25-year-old helped Palace beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup last season.
